Printable Christmas Placemat

‘Tis the season for holiday get-togethers. That means family, food, fun… and the occasional squirmy kid. How can we keep the kids happy while they’re waiting for Christmas dinner to be served? Simply use the same tactic that smart restaurant owners use: the activity placemat.

This Christmas activity placemat will keep them busy coloring, solving the Christmas song title crossword puzzle, and finding all of Santa’s reindeer. Hopefully this will keep little hands busy until it’s time to pass the mashed potatoes.

Clothespin Reindeer Ornaments

source: Mandi Ehman

I first saw this cute project at Boston Baby Mama (via Pinterest), and I added it to our 12 Days of Christmas activities without really planning to post about it.

They turned out so cute, though, that I had to share.

The flu hit our house at the beginning of the week, and the thrill of opening each day’s activity was replaced by the frustration of the growing pile of activities we’ve had to save for later. Thankfully, my mom came yesterday to bring us a few groceries and spend some time with the girls so both Sean and I could rest, and while she was here, she also do these reindeer ornaments with the girls.

We didn’t have any pompoms like the original post, just sequins, but the girls went to town adding personality and flair to their reindeer, and I love how they turned out. Yet more proof that life doesn’t have to be perfect to be beautiful!

See the full instructions at Boston Baby Mama.

101 Days of Christmas: Paper Snowflakes

Thumbnail image for 101 Days of Christmas: Paper Snowflakes

I love making paper snowflakes. There’s something magical about creating a design you can’t actually see and trying to picture how each cut will look when it’s finally unfolded. They never look quite like I expect, and — like the real things — each one is unique. My girls love to make them as well, and [...]

101 Days of Christmas: Popsicle Stick Christmas Tree

Thumbnail image for 101 Days of Christmas: Popsicle Stick Christmas Tree

We’re always on the lookout for fun Christmas crafts that the whole family can do together, and this one definitely fits the bill! These are fairly large, so they wouldn’t necessarily make great ornaments (although you could use little popsicle sticks instead of the big ones to make miniature versions!), but you could add a [...]
