This post is brought to you by 101 Deals of Christmas at For the Mommas, featuring a steal of a deal every day from now through Christmas:

This is a simple and fun project that would make a great, practical teacher gift.

Everyone loves a dry erase board (no?), and with a piece of plexiglass and a pretty piece of scrapbook paper, you can make a decorative board that’s perfect for hanging on the wall or side of the fridge.

Pair it with some coordinating dry erase markers and an eraser for a simple gift!

Supplies:

  • small piece of plexiglass (check your local home improvement store)
  • scrapbook paper
  • Mod Podge & foam brush
  • coordinating ribbon
  • drill with small bit

Directions:

Drill two small holes in the corners of your plexiglass.

Get your scrapbook paper ready and then begin spreading a thin layer of Mod Podge on the back of your plexiglass until it’s covered in even, smooth strokes.

Lay the plexiglass on top of the scrapbook paper, working quickly to align the edges.

Turn over and smooth any bubbles or wrinkles out of the paper.

Let dry completely and then trim the edges with an Exacto knife. Be sure to cut the paper out of the drilled holes as well.

Thread ribbon through the corner holes and tie a bow at the top.

And you’re done!

I love this idea!  Easy and so much prettier than a white board and you can customize! : )

You can do a similar thing by getting a frame (I used a 12×12).  You insert a piece of scrapbook paper into the frame.  You can use the dry erase marker on the front.  It can be a to do list, a menu planner or whatever you want.  You could add vinyl to the front, too if you wanted to step it up a bit.

Something similar to that is actually what inspired this one. I think that’s a great idea too!

Love it, this is adorable! This might be a great thing to make for holiday guests, to put up in their room, letting them know where things are (towels in the bathroom, etc.) or schedules for family events.

I was thinking this would be cool in a picture frame too!!! I was trying to think of something like this for my sister and sister in law, and i saw a cork board in a picture from that was covered in your favorite fabric…but this would be awesome! you could still use fabric if you wanted and cover it with the plexiglass!

Is the scrap book paper on top of the plexi glass or on the back of it?

The pretty side of the paper is glued to the back of the plexiglass. Hope that helps!
