My favorite holiday tradition, by far, is the night of Christmas Eve…all of it!
After a busy day visiting family, we head to church to sing Christmas carols and reflect on the wonder of that first Christmas.
We then come home with sleepy but excited children to open their brand new Christmas pajamas.
Afterwards, we gather around the table to drink hot chocolate while I read ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas.
And then, once the girls are settled in bed and asleep, the real magic happens!
Sean begins assembling the “big” gift(s) from us (this year the little ones are getting a GeoTrax set and the big girls are getting beds for their American Girl dolls!) that will be waiting by the tree when the girls come downstairs on Christmas morning.
I fill stockings, start our breakfast casseroles for the morning and write a mushy note for Sean.
When everything’s done, we settle down in the quiet, with the lights still on the tree to watch a movie and then head to bed to get as much sleep as we can before the morning wake up call!
