“Here we go a-wassailing among the leaves so green…”
A few months after Sean and I got married, we picked up and moved to St. George, Utah, where we lived for two years before moving back East. We spent our first Christmas there with our next door neighbors, and they introduced me to wassail.
I’ve always loved spiced cider, but wassail — with the addition of orange juice — is even yummier, and I love to combine the ingredients in my crock pot and turn it on early Christmas morning to make our whole house smell like Christmas!
Ingredients:
- 2 quarts apple cider
- 2 cups orange juice
- 1⁄2 cup lemon juice
- 12 whole cloves
- 4 cinnamon sticks
- 1 pinch ground ginger
- 1 pinch ground nutmeg
Directions:
Combine all ingredients in your crock pot and simmer for several hours. Keep the crock pot set to warm to enjoy hot wassail all day long!
