This is a fun gift for the chocolate-and-coffee lover in your life!

Chocolate-covered espresso beans are easy to make, and you can easily add a little variety by doing several batches in different types of chocolate and then mixing the beans together once dried.

Note that homemade chocolate-covered espresso beans won’t be perfectly round and shiny like those you buy in the store (although I think these have way more character since you can actually  see the shape of the bean), but you can temper your chocolate for a shinier coating if that’s what you’re after.

Ingredients:

  • 4 oz. milk, white or dark chocolate
  • 1-1/2 cups roasted espresso beans

Directions:

Line the counter with parchment paper.

Heat chocolate in a double boiler until melted, stirring frequently. It’s important to use a dry bowl and spoon and avoid getting any water in your chocolate. Even a single drop will mess up your chocolate!

Add espresso beans to the melted chocolate, a handful at a time, stirring until the beans are well-coated.

Scoop up the beans with a wooden spoon and use a fork to drop them onto the parchment paper one at a time so that they’re not touching.

Let the chocolate harden completely and then transfer to a tightly sealed container.
